We invite graduate students and postdocs to submit their 2 slides (in lieu of an abstract) for a Research Snapshot session at the October 16 MindCORE Retreat. The session will feature short talks that are NO LONGER than 5 minutes and use a maximum of two slides.
This is an opportunity for trainees to share their research, practice presentation skills, and get feedback in a supportive environment—and an opportunity for attendees to quickly learn others’ work that may connect to or inspire their own.
Talk format:
Each talk will follow a concise, two-slide structure:
* Slide 1: Your Research Question. This slide should provide essential background, state your research question and your hypothesis. What do you do?
* Slide 2: Present EITHER 1 experiment OR 1 key result. This slide should focus on a single experiment OR a single research finding from your work. What have you found? Words, figures, graphs, and diagrams all welcome—but must fit on one slide.
Submissions should be designed for a presentation that is no more than 5 minutes long (shorter is okay, longer will be cut off) and uses a maximum of two slides (only). Remember that MindCORE is comprised of people from across all the fields of human brains and behavior, so your slides should be understandable (with concise explanation) to a broad group of smart people working in other areas.
Submission Requirements: Please submit your final two slides as a PDF by email to pennmindcore@sas.upenn.edu by September 29. Your email should also include your full name & your Lab/PI.
Submissions will be selected based on: 1) Submission Date (earlier submissions get preference) 2) Research Topic (we seek a broad representation of research across mind and brain)
Key Dates:
* Submission Deadline: September 29
* Notification of Acceptance: October 3 (end of day)
* Talk Session Date: October 16 at Tyler Arboretum in Media. Be sure to register for the retreat here.
We look forward to seeing your innovative research!
