“Memory and Reality”

Marcia Johnson is being honored by the Franklin Institute for her pioneering theories, the Multiple-Entry, Modular memory system (MEM) and the Source Monitoring Framework (SMF), and her creative experimental and neuroimaging research. In addition to Cognitive Science and Neuroscience, her research has contributed to the study of fundamental issues in Cognitive Development, Aging, Neurological Pathologies, Social Psychology, and Psychology and the Law. In her presentation, she will highlight key theoretical ideas and empirical findings about human memory, and discuss practical implications in our contemporary context.

Dr. Johnson is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and recipient of numerous awards, including: the CNS Fred Kavli Distinguished Career Contributions Award in Cognitive Neuroscience, (2017), APF Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in the Science of Psychology (2011), APA Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award (2006), APS William James Fellow Award (2006), and the APS Psychological Science Mentor Award (2019).
