Given the past year of remote teaching experiences, what aspects of virtual learning should be retained and integrated into the classroom as we transition back to in-person teaching? In this workshop, we will first hear from Konrad Kording, co-founder of Neuromatch Academy (NMA), a massive online summer school for computational neuroscience and deep learning that has reached thousands of students across 110 countries. We will then hear from Lyle Ungar, who co-taught CIS 522: Deep Learning with Konrad last spring and incorporated elements of NMA-style teaching into the lesson plan. Finally, we will reflect on our collective experiences of remote teaching and discuss how teaching tools from online learning might translate to a conventional classroom setting.
This workshop counts as credit towards the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) teaching certificate. Registration is not required to attend the event, but if you would like CTL credit please register using the above link.
