Exploring Adaptive Optics OCT Imaging for Improved Clinical Insights
Clinical optical coherence tomography (OCT) has revolutionized how clinicians monitor and assess retinal health. However, recent technological advances that combine OCT with adaptive optics have dramatically improved what we can see in the retina, extending clinical OCT to the domain of cellular-level imaging. Adaptive optics OCT enables the visualization of cells across the entire retinal thickness and the measurement of photoreceptor processes manifested as nanometer-scale optical changes. In this presentation, I will highlight several recent studies from my lab that demonstrate AO-OCT’s ability to visualize retinal cells in both healthy and diseased eyes, and how we use this information to gain deeper clinical insights.
