Taro received her PhD in Psychology from The Ohio State University and BS in Cognitive Psychology and Statistics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019. Her research focuses on understanding the psychological components that drive judgments and decisions. She utilizes process-tracing tools (e.g., eye-tracking) and computational modeling to gain insights into how we make decisions and shape experiences. She is also interested in investigating how social perceptions of others influence social learning and affect our decisions.
Outside of research, Taro is passionate about improving research tools that can be applied across disciplines. She has made several efforts to enhance the accessibility of online webcam-based eye-tracking technology, including participating in workshops and special sessions outside her field to promote the research tool.
