Process models to understand mind and brain
Process models carry out a task in the same manner we believe people do. They can capture behavior and facilitate analyses of brain measures. I’ll briefly discuss using process models to help understand concept and spatial learning. Then, I will consider some key challenges, including explaining how high-level constructs in process models can be decomposed to the level of a cell, offering an account of how the brain builds symbols. Finally, I will (re)consider what it means for a model to correspond to a brain region, which is critical for both theory and data analysis.
