Capturing Multiple Effects of Cognitive Aging and Attention in EEG Spectral Features

Variability in attention can influence episodic encoding over time. However, the neurocognitive mechanisms of this relationship, and how it changes with cognitive aging, remain poorly characterized. In a series of scalp EEG studies, I investigate how attentional demands interact with the neural processes underlying memory encoding in both young and older adults. The results point to multiple mechanisms by which memory encoding is influenced by both cognitive aging and attentional variability.
